As Seen In Vogue

Vogues Top 5 beach scents:

frag.jpg

1. Avon Tahitian Holiday - Sounds lovely doesn’t it? With scents of the Tahitian tiare flower and coconut oils. Another new perfume that uses the tiare flower is Mariah Carey’s debut fragrance ‘M’ which smells delightful. I have a bottle myself and have received many compliments.

2. Carol’s Daughter Ocean - with hints of watermelon, cucumber, lavender and hyacinth.

3.  Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aqua Motu - according to Vogue it is a “blend of marine notes mixed with lily of the valley, warm sand, and kelp has been the company’s best-selling eau de toilette in Europe since its release in 1995.” P.S it is very difficult to find in the USA!

4. Bobby Brown Beach - sand jasmine, sea spray, and mandarin. The smell definitely reminds me of the beach, reminds me of nice smelling suntan lotion!

5.  And lastly, CB I Hate Perfume At the Beach 1966. No really, the perfume is actually called that. “The vintage sunscreen is the prime note that along with hints of wet sand, seashell, driftwood, and something called-boardwalk” says Vogue.com

The Boob Job in a Jab: Macrolane Tested

Not by me! But, by Newby Hands the beauty editor at Harpers Bazaar UK.

As some of you may know, I wrote a post about Macrolane, a new treatment that promises to enhance your breasts by one cup size. Newby Hands recently tried this procedure and I was shocked that Macrolane is quite the opposite from how the media portrays it.

First of all, this is in no way a procedure that you would like to have during your lunch hour. It’s imperative that you rest afterwards because you will most likely feel nauseous and will be in a decent amount of pain.

According to the article I read about her experience, the doctor will first inject an anaesthetic into each breast. Then a fairly long needle (with the filler) is injected into the middle of each breast . (I hope nobody passes out from reading this!)  She describes the feeling a unpleasant, but not too bad. The filling took a few minutes to inject and she began to see her breasts inflate. I think she would have been a bit happier if she didn’t see blood on her stomach afterwards…

“Minutes later a delayed shock sets in and my teeth chatter so much that I can hardly talk. I feel sore, but also weak and frail”

She even felt like passing out while she was waiting to fill her painkiller prescription at the pharmacy. The next day was no picnic either. The pain was extreme and she felt breathless just trying to get out of bed or whenever she would try to stand up straight.  She says that she probably had about 36 hours of pain and discomfort total. There was still a bit of soreness towards the end of the week, but nothing too bad. She was unable to take showers and deep baths because the bandages were not allowed to get wet.

Otherwise, she is very pleased with the results! She went from being a small B cup to almost a full C, but will only maintain that size for a few months. They slowly begin to deflate down to their normal size, then she would need to have the procedure done again! No thank you!

Besides the week of pain, the only other down side is its cost, around 4,800 pounds for the first procedure and 1,400 for any treatment after here in the UK. That is a lot of money and quite frankly I would rather have cosmetic surgery and get it over with. For the same price you can do it once every 15-20 years or so. Then again, I don’t want to offend people who are against plastic surgery because I respect your opinions about it. It is a personal choice and I myself do not have a problem with it. I just can’t imagine myself going through with this boob jab - I hate needles, I hate the idea of being fully aware of what is about to happen…I think I would rather be put under!

Clarins Beauty Products: The Fab Five

If you are a frequent reader of Une Boutique Tres Chic then you will know that I love Clarins beauty products. Since summer is around the corner, I figured I would share my five favorite Clarins products that are perfect for this up and coming season and give you the chance to buy them too! So here we go:

Number 1: Clarins Eau Dynamisante Satin Finish Body Oil

Clarins describes this product as “More than a fragrance, it’s a skin treatment too. A blend of 14 aromatherapeutic plant extracts and essential oils which invigorate the senses and energise.”

Number 2: Clarins Delicious Self Tanning Cream

This self tanning cream looks like milk chocolate pudding and smells delicious too! It works like a charm.

Number 3: Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel

This is the mother of all self tanning products and has received countless awards from beauty magazines and editors. I highly recommend it!

Number 4: Clarins Super Restorative day/night cream

[phpbay]clarins super restorative night cream, 2[/phpbay]

Two fantastic creams for both day and night. It smooths fine lines and replenishes the skin. It is recommended for women aged 40+, but my dermatologist once told me that it can never be too early to use anti-aging creams.

Number 5: Clarins Shimmer Body Oil

I saw one bottle of this oil on ebay! They are not yet in stores as I said in a previous post, but it should be in stores soon. I have been wanting this product for a while now, but due to packaging problems Clarins postponed the release.

If you are interested in buying any of these products you can do so from the Une Boutique Tres Chic Store - The Boutique

Clarins Shimmer body Oil

I just called Clarins here in the UK. They are not selling the shimmer body oil this summer because of packaging issues, but they will hopefully relaunch it in the near future!

3. L’Oreal’s Glam Bronze Micro-Fine Spray Foundation - If you want an instant tan use this product. It’s like body makeup, dries quickly and lasts all day.

Overall Best! Fake tan products:

h2g.jpg

Today I painted my nails with this color. It is call ‘Hard to get’ from Essie. Their website describes the color as “flirty pink, very light yet slightly bright” and it looks really beautiful on my nails! I believe it is part of their new summer collection.

3. Georgia by Benefit: this peachy pink colored blush is great for almost any complexion.

4. If you are not brave enough to use these vivid color eye-shadows, why not try the trend on your nails? I like Strawberry Margarita by OPI.

Lost In Beauty: Primrose Hill

lib.jpg

London’s newest Beauty Emporium,
Lost in Beauty
invites you to celebrate their launch party!
Tuesday April 22nd
7 pm - 11 pm
117 Regents Park Road
Primrose Hill
London NW1 8UR

This was my invitation and I didn’t go. Now I am wishing I did because…on April 23 The London Paper reported that Jay Kay from Jamiroquai made an appearance.  AND I MISSED IT! I am not sure if I should be admitting this, but I had a serious crush on him when they came out. I think it had to do with him dancing all sexy on that moving platform in the Virtual Insanity music video. Apparently Jay Kay was showing off his new 100,000 pound Audi outside the store.

Scarlett Cosmetics

Yesterday as I was reaching for my perfume, I thought about the first time I bought it at a small boutique in New Hope, PA called Scarlett. The boutique as I remember it was very quirky and eclectic. The front room was full of perfume and other little do-dads. In the back was a room full of cosmetics (I loved lip glosses). Unfortunately, the store is not in New Hope anymore, but I recently found their website.  I don’t believe they have a Scarlett Cosmetics boutique anywhere, but they do supply retailers in the US, UK, and and Hong Kong!

Anyway, I am thrilled that I found Scarlett’s website because I remember how upset I was that they closed their store. Oh… and if you want to know what perfume I use…well, it’s a secret :)

My favorite product

Today, a reader emailed me asking what my favorite beauty product is… that would have to be the Multiple stick from Nars.

This multi-purpose makeup stick can be used as a blush, eyeshadow, or lipstick. It’s pretty much the only thing I need to carry in my handbag when I go out. The great thing is that the Multiple comes in many colors. My favorite colors happen to be Orgasm (this color just came out in the multiple, but I previously used this color in a powder blush) and Antibes. I also recommend Copacabana which acts as a highlighter and is a shimmering pearl color. If you want to go bronze, try South Beach or Palm Beach.
