Lookbook: Betsey Johnson S/S 2008

It’s prom season!
At least it is for Betsey Johnson’s S/S 2008 collection. The quirky designer created a range of dresses and swimwear that imitated prom dresses from every decade since the 1950s. She even matched the background music to the clothing. For the 1950s part of the collection ‘Mr Sandman’ was being played, the models walked to the sounds of Diana Ross during the 1960s range, followed by Carole King in the 1970s. Betsey Johnson’s shows along with her designs are always fun and outrageous. I would never expect anything less from her!

Lookbook: Matthew Williamson S/S 2008

Matthew Williamson’s new collection is full of floral and Aztec prints. The looks are a mix between safari and hippy chic. He included lots of different pieces ranging from cropped jackets and short shorts to embroidered and beaded dresses.

Farewell Valentino

Valentino Garavani walked down his last haute couture runway this week. The runway show in Paris was a spectacular event with a star studded audience. Valentino’s fashion house is one of the most famous in the world and even though he is retiring, the Valentino name and empire will still exist with a new design team. As the fashion legend took his final walk to a standing ovation, the audience was full of tears, but Valentino kept his cool. After 45 years of making fashion history, Valentino will greatly be missed, but I have a feeling this will not be the last we see of him and glamorous creations.

Sweet Violet

Gianfranco Ferre and Alberta Ferretti

From lilac to plum, purple is taking over the runway this spring. The look is very romantic and feminine. Purple is the color to wear when you want to make a statement without being too bold. The color is being matched with satin and sheer fabrics for a soft and glamorous look.

Lookbook: Emilio Pucci

Emilio Pucci never fails to impress as a master of colors and patterns. These are some of my favorite looks this season.
