The Boob Job in a Jab: Macrolane Tested
Not by me! But, by Newby Hands the beauty editor at Harpers Bazaar UK.
As some of you may know, I wrote a post about Macrolane, a new treatment that promises to enhance your breasts by one cup size. Newby Hands recently tried this procedure and I was shocked that Macrolane is quite the opposite from how the media portrays it.
First of all, this is in no way a procedure that you would like to have during your lunch hour. It’s imperative that you rest afterwards because you will most likely feel nauseous and will be in a decent amount of pain.
According to the article I read about her experience, the doctor will first inject an anaesthetic into each breast. Then a fairly long needle (with the filler) is injected into the middle of each breast . (I hope nobody passes out from reading this!) She describes the feeling a unpleasant, but not too bad. The filling took a few minutes to inject and she began to see her breasts inflate. I think she would have been a bit happier if she didn’t see blood on her stomach afterwards…
“Minutes later a delayed shock sets in and my teeth chatter so much that I can hardly talk. I feel sore, but also weak and frail”
She even felt like passing out while she was waiting to fill her painkiller prescription at the pharmacy. The next day was no picnic either. The pain was extreme and she felt breathless just trying to get out of bed or whenever she would try to stand up straight. She says that she probably had about 36 hours of pain and discomfort total. There was still a bit of soreness towards the end of the week, but nothing too bad. She was unable to take showers and deep baths because the bandages were not allowed to get wet.
Otherwise, she is very pleased with the results! She went from being a small B cup to almost a full C, but will only maintain that size for a few months. They slowly begin to deflate down to their normal size, then she would need to have the procedure done again! No thank you!
Besides the week of pain, the only other down side is its cost, around 4,800 pounds for the first procedure and 1,400 for any treatment after here in the UK. That is a lot of money and quite frankly I would rather have cosmetic surgery and get it over with. For the same price you can do it once every 15-20 years or so. Then again, I don’t want to offend people who are against plastic surgery because I respect your opinions about it. It is a personal choice and I myself do not have a problem with it. I just can’t imagine myself going through with this boob jab - I hate needles, I hate the idea of being fully aware of what is about to happen…I think I would rather be put under!

Great post, I’d never heard of the procedure. I like the idea of it but I’m with you Britt, i’d rather slice-n-dice and be done already!
