Elles Top 10 Trends from NY Fashion Week
1. Trousers: loose fitting, think boyfriend cut
2. Dark: This fall has a bit of a Gothic edge to it. Chanel’s clothes pull it off beautifully. Have you seen their new fall ads?
3. Florals: MichaelKors
4. Masculine suits and tailoring
5. Jewel Tones: colors such as a deep read, purple, blue, copper.
6. Clash: They are saying that it is ok to clash your colors. Oddly enough this was also a trend for this past spring/summer and it surprisingly looked good.
7. Sleeveless Jackets: I have one of these, it is grey and from five years ago!
8. Bohemian floral: also another trend from last season just darker colors.
9. Plaid: Think Marc Jacobs and Ralph Lauren
10. Gradients of color: such as below from Costello Tagliapietra
Acid Wash is not OKAY
And I don’t think it will ever be okay. How many of you would actually wear this? Yet some designers have brought the look back in their new collections. The picture is from Karen Walkers A/W08-09 collection.
I just find it strange that some of the other fashion blogs I read are raving about this look? I think maybe they are raving about this look because the fashion industry has a brain washing element to it. If someone bought this outfit and wore it down the street, would they honestly think to themselves “Hey! I look really cool!” I don’t think so…
You know…you don’t have to listen to every catwalk review to be in style!
Junk Food at the Gap
You can now buy those Little Miss & Mr T-shirts that are adorable at the gap for your little ones! I was at a mall the other day and happened to peek through the window of Baby Gap and saw the shirts. I was debating buying a few even though I am minus child, but for future use.
I have a Little Miss Lucky T-Shirt in light blue that I bought a few years ago at Urban Outfitters. I have a bit of a history with Little Miss books. Every time I leave London to come back home Neal always buys me a Little Miss book at the airport (even though it entertains me for about 3 minutes) I am starting to have a little collection.
